Arno Coenen (Deventer, 1972) behoort tot een generatie Nederlandse kunstenaars die is opgegroeid met digitale media maar bewust kiest voor de spanning tussen het digitale beeld en het fysieke ambacht.

Zijn werkwijze: ontwerpen op de computer, uitvoering in glasmozaïek, keramiek, glas-in-lood en gebrand hout. Die vertaling van vluchtig digitaal beeld naar duurzaam object loopt als rode draad door zijn oeuvre.

Coenen wordt regelmatig een 'volkskunstenaar' genoemd. Zijn werk is toegankelijk en energiek, en verbindt subculturen, popcultuur en kunstgeschiedenis.

Arno Coenen (Deventer, Netherlands, 1972) belongs to a generation of Dutch artists who grew up with digital media but chose the tension between digital imagery and physical craftsmanship.

His method: designs originate on the computer but are realized in glass mosaic, ceramics, stained glass and burned wood. This translation from fleeting digital image to enduring object is the thread running through his work.

Frequently called a 'people's artist,' his work is accessible and energetic, connecting subcultures, pop culture and art history.
